The National Drug Take Back Event will be held Oct. 27 at the Greeneville Police Department.
Anyone can bring their unused prescription and over-the-counter medications to the parking lot between Greeneville Town Hall and Jeffers Funeral Home from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for safe and responsible disposal.
Items not accepted are: syringes, any injected medications such as Epi-Pens, compressed gas containers such as inhalers, IV bags and other infectious waste.
The event is aimed at preventing drug overdoses and keeping medications from being flushed into waterways where they can be harmful to animals and the environment.
For those unable to attend the event on Oct. 27, the Police Department has a collection bin for accepting unwanted and expired prescription and over-the-counter medications at any time.
The Police Department is located at Town Hall, 200 N. College St.
