Sand Volleyball Courts Grand Opening

The courts are the latest addition to Greeneville’s largest park, which houses four ballfields, a swimming pool and bathhouse, five pavilions, three playgrounds, a walking trail, and a skatepark. The six-court sand volleyball complex includes a concession stand, restroom facility with press box, and meeting rooms.

League play and tournaments can now be offered at the complex. The Parks and Recreation department plans to bid on, recruit, and host major collegiate tournaments and local/regional high school tournaments. Outside of league play, citizens can use the courts for general exercise, open play, or conditioning.

The complex was built by the Parks and Recreation department and contractors to repurpose unused softball fields. Beach volleyball has become one of the fastest growing sports in the United States.  Partial funding for the complex came from the State of Tennessee Tourism Enhancement Grant or “TEG” Program. Sports-related tourism is a great way to enhance our community development in Greeneville and Greene County.
