Weekly Update: Greeneville Fire Department's New "Tower 3" Ladder Truck

Greeneville Fire Department members spent this week conducting training on the new 100' "Tower 3" with company personnel to become familiar with its features. The ladder can extend up to 100' for firefighting and rescue operations. The new addition gives the department the ability to reach further than ever before to deliver more services and options to the citizens.
 
Below are a few of the features of the new apparatus:
  • 236" Wheelbase, 47' Travel Length and 11'-6" Travel Height
  • Four-Door, Four-Person Cab
  • Front Axle and Suspension 24,000 lbs
  • Rear Axle and Suspenstion 52,000 lbs
  • Engine: Cummins X 15, 600HP
  • 300-Gallon Water Tank
  • Nearly 300 cu ft. Total Compartment Space
  • Duo-Safety Ladder Package: 14', 16', 16' 24' 2-Section, 35' 2-section & 10' F
 
The Greeneville Fire Department is a full-service emergency response agency providing rapid, caring, and quality response to the citizens and visitors of Greeneville. GFD provides the following emergency response services: fire suppression, emergency medical, hazardous materials mitigation, and rescue. GFD also provides the following non-emergency services: child safety seat installation, smoke alarm installation, public fire education, fire inspections, code enforcement, fire cause determination and investigation, special event stand-by, pre-incident and preparedness planning, fire extinguisher training, and CPR training.
 
The Greeneville Fire Department has earned an Insurance Service Office (ISO) Classification of 2 utilizing four strategically located fire stations. The department has 44 full-time employees including the Fire Chief, Assistant Chief, Administrative Chief, Fire Marshal, three Shift Commanders (BCs), 3 Station Superintendent/Company Officers (Captains), nine Company Officers (Lieutenants), and twenty-four firefighters. Five personnel are Paramedics and the other members are Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians. Several members are trained by TEMA to the advanced level of hazardous materials specialists with the rest of the department as technicians.

All services are provided within the corporate limits of Greeneville, limited fire protection contracts are available to citizens within 4 miles of the corporate limits, and hazardous materials mitigation is provided throughout Greene County.
