Application deadlines are March 2nd, 2026 and September 1st, 2026 by 4:00 p.m. Testing dates are the third Saturdays in March and September (March 21, 2026 and September 19, 2026)

Minimum Qualifications:

Police Officer and Auxiliary Officer: 21 years of age and have a HS diploma/GED; U.S. citizen; resident of Greene County, Tennessee OR have a 45-minute response/arrival time to GPD; certification by a qualified professional in the psychiatric or psychological fields that the employee is able to meet the necessary standards of the job; good moral character as determined by NCIC criminal history, TN Department of Safety Records, and other investigative means; criminal record free of felony convictions of any state or federal government charges or of a misdemeanor involving moral turpitude, drunkenness, or domestic violence, the punishment of which could have resulted in being sentenced to jail or prison. Out-of-State applicants must meet civil service residency requirements within (6) months of their hire date. Probation may be extended on a case-by-case basis.
