The Town of Greeneville and the Greeneville Police Department proudly announce the appointment of Captain Joshua Pierce to Chief of Police, effective June 30, 2026.

The appointment follows a comprehensive internal selection process involving several highly qualified candidates from within the Greeneville Police Department. The process was led by Jeff Stiles, Police Management Consultant with MTAS (Municipal Technical Advisory Service).

A graduate of the FBI National Academy, Pierce holds a Master of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of Cincinnati and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from East Tennessee State University.  He is also a Tennessee POST-certified officer and holds a Level III Leadership Certificate through the Tennessee Association of Chiefs of Police.

“Chief Pierce has demonstrated exceptional leadership, professionalism and dedication to public service throughout his career,” said Interim City Manager Cathy Osborne. “His experience, vision and commitment to our community makes him well prepared to lead the Greeneville Police Department into the future.”

As Chief of Police, Pierce will lead the department’s efforts to enhance public safety, strengthen community partnerships, and support the officers and staff who serve the citizens of Greeneville.

Pierce stated, “I am honored and humbled by the opportunity to serve as Chief of Police. I am grateful for the trust placed in me and look forward to supporting the outstanding men and women of our department while continuing to strengthen our partnership with the citizens we proudly serve.
