NOTICE OF SEWER REHABILITATION WORK
Location:
• Charles Street – From N Main Street to Irish Street
• Tusculum Boulevard – From Justis Drive to Hope Road
Project Information:
Sewer rehabilitation work will begin on Monday, September 22, 2025, along the above-listed sections.
Project Timeline:
This phase of work is expected to take approximately two weeks, weather permitting.
Traffic and Access Information:
• Thru traffic will not be permitted during this phase.
• Residents and business patrons will maintain access to properties within the work zone.
• Emergency vehicles will have access at all times.
Additional Information:
• A brief closure will occur where the work intersects with N Main Street; this section will be reopened as quickly as possible.
• Work will progress in sections to minimize disruption.
• The contractor will make every effort to complete the work as quickly as possible.
• Progress updates will be provided via email throughout the duration of this phase.

9/24 and possibly 9/25 – Finish Paving Side Roads
9/29 – Mill under railroad bridge and nearby side roads
9/30 – Pave under railroad bridge and nearby side roads
Work yet to be scheduled but that is set to be completed prior to October 31st
• Paint the permanent thermoplastic pavement markings (white/yellow lines, crosswalks, painted verbiage, etc)
• Install the snowplowable reflectors
• Remove signs when all work is complete

9/18 – Mill the remainder of SR35

9/22-9/23 – Pave if any of the mainline, side roads, parking areas remain
The contractor brought a second milling machine to expedite this work, so the current progress has outpaced the last schedule update. Additionally, the contractor will not be working on the SR35 resurfacing next Tuesday and Wednesday.
9/11 and 9/12; 9/15 – Pave SR35 NB From Tusculum Blvd (today); Mill and Pave SB SR35 from 11E to near the SR350 Intersection
9/16 and 9/17 – No work
9/18 and 9/19 - Mill and Pave SB SR35 from near the SR350 Intersection to Ricker Avenue
9/22-9/24 – Pave SR35 if any of the mainline remains; pave side roads

11E / Snapps Ferry Bridge Rehabilitation Contract
Prime Contractor is King General Contractors
Contract Completion Date is 6/15/2026
Progress Status:
Currently working under the bridge from Snapps Ferry and in the TDOT ROW between the ramps and 11E. The contractor plans to close the right northbound lane on Snapps Ferry starting 9/11/2025
Although the lane closures will alternate on Snapps Ferry, two lanes will be open at all times (one lane each direction)
It will likely be several months, but 11E at the bridge will be reduced to one lane each direction when the contractor begins working on the bridge deck
All four lanes on Snapps Ferry are to remain open while the 11E lane closures and wide load detour are in place

9/2 – Loop wire subcontractor will begin saw cutting and installing the new detection system loop wires
9/3 – Finish installing new loop wires
9/5 – Mill SR35 from Ricker Avenue to far side of SR70 (near Ace Hardware)
9/8 – Pave milled section; begin milling next section (Approximately from near Ace Hardware to near Mckee Street)
9/9 – Continue Progress on milling and paving operations

The Town of Greeneville Youth Commission is a group of local teens, enrolled in Greeneville High School, or home schooled within the city limits, as sophomores, juniors or seniors. Each member serves a one-year term with the option of reappointment.
The purpose of the commission is for youth to have a voice and make an impact in their community. This group of individuals will work toward developing their own individual leadership skills while strengthening their communities through volunteer service and increased communication with municipal leaders. Members selected have an interest in local government, a desire in making local government a career choice, and/or want to be more involved in the decision-making process.

Below is the schedule for the upcoming work on the Greeneville resurfacing project, please note that this is tentative and subject to change at a moment’s notice:
8/25 – Install advanced warning and construction signage
8/26 or 8/27 – Begin milling through all the signalized intersections within the project limits that operate using loop wires
9/2 – Loop wire subcontractor will saw cut and install the new detection system loop wires
9/4 – Begin milling SR35 starting at Ricker Ave
9/8 – Begin paving operations starting at Ricker Ave

Hurst excavating will have E Mckee closed from the intersection of S college to Lake St. Due to pumping around of sewer for a portion of sewer rehabilitation on Unaka St. The work should be completed today 08/20/2025.
